Our story is rooted in a shared experience and a common mission: to create a space where every Adult Missionary Kid can feel heard, understood, and at home.
Our Story, Our Mission
In 2015, as a third-generation missionary hitting the 30-year mark, I found myself facing the crisis many MKs experience. Life had finally slowed down enough for the unresolved grief and trauma of a transcultural past to come crashing in. I desperately needed community, but I felt misunderstood and out of place, even in church.
The search for connection led me to MK groups online, and eventually to an in-person community in Florida. But back in Brazil, I was isolated again. That’s when a challenge from another MK group on Instagram sparked an idea. With the help of Roni and an amazing team including Spenser and Rebekah, we launched an online community in 2020. It took off, especially during the pandemic, creating a vital space for meaningful relationships.
MK Connect was born from that simple yet profound need for a place where we didn’t have to explain ourselves—a place to be understood finally. Today, that mission continues with a new leadership team dedicated to fostering this unique community.
